I'm Jack, a design leader, thinker, and curious builder of side projects, design systems, and AI experiments.

Jack Anglesea

Based in Manchester, I lead UX and Design at Dootrix, shaping high-quality digital products across native mobile and web. My work sits across product design, design systems, design strategy, accessibility, and the practical use of AI in modern design operations.

Over the last 9 years, I've worked across start-ups, product teams, and established organisations, helping turn complex problems into useful, accessible, and well-crafted products. I'm often brought into projects where teams need clarity: defining the right problem, improving user journeys, setting design direction, creating scalable systems, or shaping a product so it can move from idea to launch with less friction.

As a design leader, I care about both the quality of the product and the way teams get there. I partner closely with engineers, delivery teams, product leads, and stakeholders to connect user goals with business outcomes, making sure design decisions are grounded, practical, and built to last. That often means moving between strategy and detail — from audits, workshops, journey mapping, and product thinking through to UX flows, interface design, prototyping, design QA, and delivery support.

See what I've been doing on

Reduce ambiguity

Align teams around the problem, user need, business goal, and definition of success before moving into solutions.

Balance users and business

Make design decisions that support user goals while contributing to adoption, conversion, retention, efficiency, or growth.

Turn insight into direction

Use research, audits, workshops, and data to identify friction and shape clear, practical next steps.

Partner through delivery

Work closely with product, engineering, and delivery teams to shape ideas early, test assumptions, and build with confidence.

Design with systems in mind

Create patterns, components, and standards that improve consistency, accessibility, and delivery quality across products.

Strategy and detail

Connect product thinking and journey mapping with detailed UX, interface design, prototyping, and design QA.

Improve how teams work

Create clear ways of working that help teams make better decisions and raise the quality of what they ship.

A big part of my work is raising standards through systems thinking. I build and embed design systems, patterns, and ways of working that help teams move with more consistency and confidence. For me, good systems are not just libraries of components — they are shared agreements that make better decisions easier, improve accessibility, reduce repeated effort, and create stronger foundations for product teams to scale.

I also care deeply about growing people as well as products. At Dootrix, I lead the design function, support designers through regular 1:1s and critique, mentor emerging talent, and help create the conditions for designers to do clear, confident work. I believe good design leadership is calm, useful, and consistent: setting direction, creating space for better thinking, and helping people raise the quality of what they ship.

Build design capability

Led the design function at Dootrix, supporting designers through structured 1:1s, objective setting, and active development.

Grow broader thinkers

Helped designers build the confidence to think beyond the immediate task, approach problems systematically, and connect their work to wider product and business goals.

Coach emerging talent

Mentored a design apprentice through a structured month-long placement, setting a clear project, regular coaching rhythm, and high standards for design thinking.

Create clear ways of working

Built and embedded a design wiki across Dootrix, establishing shared standards for Figma structure, project approach, critique, and development handover.

Raise the standard of critique

Maintained a regular design critique practice, helping the team present stronger rationale, challenge assumptions, and improve the quality of design decisions.

Hire with intent

Owned end-to-end design hiring at Dootrix, from job descriptions and design challenges through to portfolio reviews and interviews, shaping the team around what the business actually needed.

Outside of design, I'm usually running, spending time walking Ozzy looking for the next good coffee spot, or planning food around whatever part of Manchester I'm in. I'm a Manchester City season ticket holder and currently learning Spanish with mixed levels of consistency.

I'm always up for a conversation about design systems, AI tools, product quality, Manchester coffee spots, wrestling, or the case for Kevin De Bruyne as a service designer.
